English Only Policy
1) The first time you are caught, you will receive a warning only.
2) The second time, you will not be allowed to come to school at all the next day.
3) The third time, you must miss one week.
4) The fourth time, you will miss another week and so on.
5) This applies as long as you are in a program at UCL. Your record gets erased every month.
6) Even one word of another language is not allowed and will be recorded as one offence.
7) No exceptions, including emergencies.
7) If you have to speak another language please leave the school area.
8) This policy applies to ALL programs and classes at UCL.
9) If you have any questions or concerns please contact a counsellor.
Homework Policy ( No Homework! No Class! )
1) You must complete your homework before entering class.
2) If you do not have it completed, the teacher will ask you to leave class,
2) complete it in the student lounge, and then immediately return to class.
Lateness Policy ( Be On Time All The Time! )
1) You may enter the class up to ten minutes late.
2) After that, you must wait until the coffee break or lunchtime to enter class.
3) If you have an emergency situation before class starts, phone Reception, which will then make
3) arrangements for you to enter class late
Vacation Policy
1) Students are allowed a (maximum two-week) vacation once.
2) Students must inform Reception of their holiday plans at least one week before departure.
3) If students fail to inform reception of their plans, they are considered absent.
Absence Policy
If students receive more than three absence marks per month, they MAY NOT move up to the next level of ESL.
Refund Policy
The following refund policy applies to the terms of this enrolment contract. In case of cancellation, written request must be submitted to UCL by a student. Refund entitlement is calculated on the total fees due under the contract, less the non-refundable registration fee.
1. Refunds before the program of study begins:
a. If a student visa is denied by Canadian immigration office, the school may retain non-refundable registration fee.
b. If written request of cancellation is received by the student less than seven (7) calendar days after the contract is made, and before the commencement of the period of instruction specified in the contract, the school may retain the lesser of 25% of the total fees due under the contract or $400.
c. Subject to subsection (1) (b), if written request of cancellation is received by the student thirty (30) calendar days or more before the commencement of the period of instruction specified in the contract, the school may retain 25% of the total fees due under the contract.
d. Subject to subsection (1) (b), if written request of cancellation is received by the student less than thirty (30) calendar days before the commencement of the period of instruction specified in the contract, the school may retain 40% of the total fees due under the contract.
2. Refunds after the program of study starts:
a. If written request of cancellation is received by the student within 10% of the period of instruction specified in the contract, the school may retain 50% of the total fees due under the contract.
b. If written request of cancellation is received by the student after 10% and before 30% of the period of instruction specified in the contract, the school may retain 70% of the total fees due under the contract.
c. If written request of cancellation is received by the student after 30% of the period of instruction specified in the contract, no refund is required.
